From Susan Eisen, LIFETAG Medical ID President, creator and designer:
I am a professional jeweler, and for the last 8 years I've had Type 1 diabetes. While I know I should wear some sort of medical ID jewelry, I have always strongly disliked every one on the market. The medical IDs available either looked too cheap and ugly, or, if it looked like fine jewelry, the medical ID would be masked and would be impossible for anyone to see my medical condition. Most people, including me, feel that having diabetes is a private issue and don't want everybody to know. This was my dilemma.
Up until now, the medical ID jewelry available had not been designed to discreetly alert people who need to know about your medical condition. Because it is so noticeable, it arouses unnecessary sympathy from others about one's medical problems.
Besides, the real reason I was convinced to design my own medical ID jewelry was that the medical id jewelry on the market would break easily and was always showing up in my jewelry repair shop. People were upset because their medical ID was constantly breaking, and worried that if they had to leave it too long, their medical condition would be unnoticed.
As I mentioned earlier, I am a jeweler. So I said , "Who'd be better than me to design a medical ID that would make people feel safe, be invisible to the public eye and yet do its job?". Putting my jeweler's mind to work, this is what I came up with after four years of research and development...LIFETAG Medical ID.
